Adventures in Lititz, part 3

Adventures in Lititz, part 2

Lititz was originally settled by the Moravians, so I was excited to explore the Moravian church. I thought it was really unique that their organ is not just on the balcony, but facing opposite of the pulpit.

Adventures in Lititz, part 1

My friend and I went to this Pretzel Bakery back in September when I was in the Reading/Lancaster area for a deputation meeting and took their little tour on how hard pretzels came to be...

Someone recently gave me the recipe for tostones - made from plantains and a very common food in Honduras and other Latin places, like Puerto Rico. I highly recommend them and personally think they taste just fine with a little salt on top (rather than dipping them in mojo, an oil and garlic based sauce). But then again, I always went for plain and simple foods instead of adding numerous condiments or sauces.

The building process

From time to time I like to share some words of wisdom that I have gleaned from others. Tonight, I'd like to pass on to you some words from C.S. Lewis.

"Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuilt that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing so you are not surprised. But presently, He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominable and does not seem to make any sense.

What on earth is He up to?

The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of - throwing out a new wing here, putting an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards.

You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage, but He is building a palace.

He intends to come and live in it Himself."

A prayer from Betty Stam

"Lord, I give up my own plans and purposes, all my own desires, hopes and ambitions, and I accept Thy will for my life. I give up myself, my life, my all, utterly to Thee, to be Thine forever. I hand over to Thy keeping all of my friendships; all the people whom I love are to take second place in my heart. Fill me now and seal me with Thy Spirit. Work out Thy whole will in my life at any cost, for to me to live is Christ. Amen."

I live in a small town. Today's excitement at work is a building across the street being demolished. And not just any building. A pre-1800 log home that had been covered in clapboard and most recently was occupied by four different renters (four apartments). The first picture is at 10:19 AM. The second picture is at 11:26 AM

The deck railing shows how much snow we've gotten in the last two hours... And it's still coming down!!! We haven't had this much snow since I was in elementary school.
