Rawacala Day Trip

I would like to introduce you to Rawacala. An hour and a half away from where I live, this nature reserve has a little bit of everything. It's off the beaten path (some might say, hidden gem) so there's not yet a ton of people going there.

There's a 200 lempira entrance fee, but the cost is totally worth it, since they also have and maintain decently clean bathrooms, cold water showers, and soap to wash hands.

The reserve has a Mirador, which is a look out that you can get to by going up 439 steps (we counted them). It has a nice view of the sea.

They also offer guided hiking and zip-lining, though these are offered at an additional price.

The best feature is the first waterfall that you can get to with an easy-level pathway. If you go in weekdays, they don't offer food, so you will have to bring your own water and food, but there's a nice deck area by the waterfall with tables where one can sit and enjoy the waterfall.

The next post will share some photos of that area.
